What is Non-Duality? (What it is and what it isn’t)

Non-duality is the subtle energy. The path of Kundalini Awakening.

If you’ve been reading my Kundalini posts and thinking, “Okay… but something else is happening too… my perception is changing,” — you’re not imagining it.

Sometimes what opens isn’t just energy.
It’s the way you meet reality. The way you feel and experience the entire world.

(If you’re new here and want the foundation first, start with What is Kundalini awakening? — and if you’re in the “symptoms spiral”, read Kundalini awakening signs & symptoms.

Now… Non-Duality.

People hear Non-Duality and usually do one of two things:

  1. switch off because it sounds too “spiritual”, or

  2. turn it into a mental project: “Let me understand this perfectly.”

And I’ll say it straight:

Non-Duality isn’t something you understand.
It’s something you recognise.

Not with your mind. With your whole system.

It’s subtle. Quiet. And it can open in a way that feels… profoundly simple.

So what does “Non-Duality” even mean?

Non-Duality points to not-two.

Not “me vs life.”
Not “me inside my head trying to control everything.”
Not “I need to fix myself before I’m allowed to be okay.”

It’s the recognition that what you truly are is not limited to the stories running through the mind — not limited to the role, the history, the identity, the “how am I doing?” voice.

You still have emotions. You still have relationships. You still have life.
But there’s a shift:

You stop living as if you are only the mind.

The pointer that explains it best (Ramana Maharshi)

One of the simplest ways into Non-Duality (without complicating it too much) is what Ramana Maharshi points to in Be As You Are.

It’s not about beliefs. It’s not about performing spirituality.
It’s a direct turning of attention back to the one who is experiencing.

Instead of trying to solve life, you start to notice:

What is aware of all of this?

And that question doesn’t need a clever answer.
It needs your attention.

What Non-Duality is NOT (because people get this wrong)

Let’s clear this up because this is where people start wearing spirituality like a costume.

Non-Duality is not:

  • dissociation (“nothing matters, I feel nothing”)

  • bypassing (“I’m above emotions”)

  • avoiding life (“I’m just observing” while your relationships burn)

  • superiority (please no, we have too much of it now)

Real Non-Duality doesn’t remove your humanity. It actually does the opposite.
It removes unnecessary suffering created by constant mental gripping.

And if you’re someone who tries hard to “do it right” (as most of us), this is where it gets important:

Non-Duality isn’t something you force.
Just like you can’t force energy to open safely — you can’t force awareness to reveal itself.

(If this is your pattern — pushing, trying, chasing a big experience — you’ll recognise it in Why Kundalini Activation doesn’t work for everyone. It’s not judgement. It’s just honesty.)

“Subtle energy” — what I mean by that

With Kundalini Activation people often expect big experiences: movements, releases, emotion, energy waves.

Non-Duality can be different.

It can feel like:

  • less need to react

  • less need to explain yourself

  • more space between trigger and response

  • a quieter confidence

  • a sense that something in you is watching, effortlessly

  • my favourite is, when my mouth opens to speak, as i am used to, nothing comes out. No need to explain myself, no need to say a word.

It’s subtle… and it’s not small.

It changes how everything lands.

The practical part (2 minutes, practise to feel it)

If your mind is already trying to make this complicated — perfect. Let’s keep it simple.

  1. Notice what’s here: a thought, emotion, worry, sensation.

  2. Ask gently: “To whom is this happening?”

  3. The answer is usually simple: “To me.” (daaaaaaah)

  4. Now feel the sense of me — not the story, the felt sense.

  5. Ask: “Who am I without the story?”

  6. Don’t hunt for an answer. Rest for a few breaths.

If you get lost, welcome to being human.
Just come back again.

This isn’t about being “good” at it.
It’s about noticing the part of you that is already still.

Why it matters (in real life, not in theory)

Because a lot of suffering isn’t life itself. Regardless of majority of us thinking that it is the life, which is causing the problems.

It’s the mind’s constant fight with life:

  • resisting what is

  • replaying what was

  • controlling what might be

  • building an identity around every experience

Non-Duality is where that fight starts losing fuel.

You still feel things.
You just don’t drown in them the same way. You respond, not react. Sometimes if feels weird, like someone else took a control of you. But this is you emerging.

And that changes everything: your relationships, your work, your nervous system, your capacity, your decisions.

How this connects with my work (without making this an advert)

Breathwork and Kundalini Activation can open energy, shift patterns, release holding.

Non-Duality is often what makes those shifts livable.

Because it’s one thing to have an experience.
It’s another to live from a deeper truth on a random Tuesday when life is lifing.

That’s why I care so much about integration. Real results. Real life.

And yes — for those who’ve trained through PRISM™, there will be a deeper layer coming (Level 2). Not because you need more “spiritual badges”… but because this subtle opening is profoundly transformative when you’re ready.

No rush. No pressure.
Readiness always wins.

If you want to experience Non-Dual work in a live container, I have an event in May.

And if you want to start now, sit with this question today:
What changes when I stop trying to control life with my mind?

With luv,
Natalia
